Prepare pastry, breads, cakes and other Eastern European baked goods in this small, artisanal, neighbourhood bakery. You need to be able to arrive in early morning hours promptly to help in baking and food preparation, and ensure quality controls are followed and wholesale orders are sent out at their best. Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and storage areas and all kitchen equipment.
Responsibilities/Daily Tasks
• Prepare artisanal breads and buns from scratch, basic danishes, donuts and other Eastern European pastries
• Monitor supplies and inventory and place orders as needed
• Ensure pastry cases are fully stocked
• Assist in other food prep for hot food steam table
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen area, walk-in cooler and freezer.
• Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers
• Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
• Strong worth ethic and team player
• Excellent organization, multi-tasking and customer service skills
• Experience cooking Ukrainian, Polish or Russian food an asset
• The ability to lift up to 50kg
• The ability to carry out tasks quickly and competently
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Ukrainian or Russian language skills a plus but not necessary
Assets
• Food Handlers Certification (can be obtained after employed)
