Kitchen Helper

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Helper to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential in assisting with meal preparation, food handling, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry and a willingness to learn and grow within our team. Previous restaurant or food service experience is a plus, but we provide training for motivated individuals eager to develop their skills.

Duties
• Assist with basic food preparation and meal assembly under the supervision of chefs or kitchen staff
• Support food handling activities, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment to meet health and safety standards
• Help with organizing supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Support serving staff during meal service times as needed
• Follow all food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure high-quality food standards
• Assist in setting up and breaking down workstations at the beginning and end of shifts
• Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers according to safety guidelines

Skills
• Wash and peel vegetables and fruit
• Wash work tables, cupboards and appliances
• Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers
• Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards and other storage areas
• Sweep and mop floors, and perform other duties to assist cook and kitchen staff.
• Clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances
• Use deep fryer, grill, oven, dispensers and other equipment to prepare fast food items such as sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, salads, ice cream dishes, milkshakes and other beverages
• Portion, assemble, and wrap food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons, and package take-out food
Pay: $16.35 per hour
